Arvind Gupta

KEYNOTE, Professor of Computer Science, University of Toronto

Professor Gupta holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from University of Toronto. He spent 18 years as professor in the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University, before moving to The University of British Columbia as professor of Computer Science in 2009. He is also former president of UBC.

Dr. Gupta is a well-regarded expert in science and innovation policy with a proven track record in building meaningful research collaborations between Canadian businesses and universities. Having joined Mitacs in 2000 as CEO and scientific director, he led Mitacs from a federally funded Network of Centres of Excellence (NCE) into the largest independent not-for-profit in Canada focused on developing the next generation of researchers through a suite of cutting-edge programs.
